Something Inherent

We just moved. We haven’t made the “big move”, but it was big enough. The “big move” will be in April after we are officially deployed to Shinyanga, Tanzania. This current move was only a step in that direction. After selling our house quickly and trying to decide what we were to do with our material possessions we moved from Southwest Kansas to Central Kansas to position ourselves better for the next steps.

Throughout our time in the ministry there has been “something inherent” about how the church responded to the difficult task of saying goodbye. They help. They lift the heavy. They endure the heat and the cold. Days after the move they continue to feel the sore muscles reminding them of the departure. It’s a hard process, however, they still show up and serve.

In response to the Gospel, they serve. This is how the church responds. Having received Christ through the Word and Sacraments the love of Christ flows forth through their mercy. There is something inherent, something automatic, about this response. It is Spirit driven and it has been consistent throughout our life in the church. Recently, we have been blessed by the multiple people who have come along with us on our journey to spread the Gospel, Plant Lutheran Churches and show mercy to those in Tanzania. Thank you church! Thank you Trinity Lutheran, Garden City. Thank you Immanuel Lutheran, Lakin and thank you Grace Lutheran, Ulysses. Thank you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
